Van Eps To Run Track For Defenders

(Wednesday, Jan. 26, 202; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Ben Van Eps, a senior at Central Minnesota Christian School has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and field program.  

“Ben will be a great addition to our team,” commented Dordt track and field coach Craig Heynen. “Ben competed well on the track and as a jumper in high school. He is a great athlete with an excellent work ethic who will make our team better and exemplifies the Defender Way.”

Van Eps qualified for the state meet in multiple events as a junior, placing in the top 10 in both the 4x800 relay and triple jump. He has personal bests of 2:01 in the 800m and 42’5” in the triple jump. Van Eps is also a member of the Central Minnesota Christian basketball and soccer teams, earning a trip to the state tournament in basketball.

“I chose Dordt because of the great track program and its Christ-centered education,” said Van Eps.

Van Eps is the son of Ryan and Stephanie and plans to study Business at Dordt.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).   

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
