The Defenders return to the ice for the first time since December 4, playing the Creighton Bluejays for the third and fourth times this season. Friday's game is set to begin at 9:15 PM and Saturday's opening faceoff at 7:30 PM. Both games will be played in Omaha, Nebraska.

Creighton is 5-10-0 on the season and has 10 points in the ACHA standings. Matthew Kocourek is the leading scorer for the Bluejays with 11 goals on the season, also tallying 10 assists. Zach Kubicek has 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. CJ Braccia has started seven of Creighton's 15 games in goal, allowing 4.45 goals per game.


The Defenders enter the weekend with a record of 11-5-0, sitting at 22 points in the ACHA standings. Dordt is currently ranked 17th in the ACHA Division 3 poll. Noah Wilmes has the most goals on the team with 14, and Kyle Espenson leads the Defenders in points with 27 on 11 goals and 16 assists. Dordt has split starts between Jackson Cross and Hayden Stevens between the pipes this season. Cross is 5-1 with a 2.26 goals against average, and Stevens allows 3.65 goals per game, holding a 6-4 record.


Creighton's last game was a 12-4 road loss against Nebraska on January 15. Nebraska got out to a 5-0 lead in the first period and kept a wide margin between themselves and the Bluejays for the rest of the game. Creighton's Dale Mee scored two goals in the loss.

Dordt is coming off of an 8-7 overtime win against Nebraska that took place on December 4. The Defenders scored three powerplay goals and had three players with two goals each. Kyle Espenson scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Drew Vreugdenhil's assist. Espenson finished with two assists to go along with the goal.


Dordt and Creighton have split the season series 1-1 in a weekend series at Vernon Arena. November 19's contest finished with a hat trick in a 5-4 loss, and Dordt finished the weekend with an 8-1 victory. Hayden Stevens stopped 29 of 30 shots in the win.
