Cheer Program Adds Raines

(Monday, January 17, 2022; Sioux Center, Iowa) Raeleigh Raines, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cheer program.

“We are so excited to welcome Raeleigh to our cheer program next year! She is a very sweet and motivated athlete and I know that she will be a great addition to our team! We look forward to seeing her growth during her time here at Dordt next year!” said Dordt coach Mel Knobloch.

Raeleigh is the daughter of Shanelle and Ryan Raines of Alton, Iowa.  She plans to study psychology and health and human performance.

“I chose to commit to Dordt because of their amazing student involvement. I felt called to attend Dordt during my visit because the students and professors tried to get to know me on a personal level.  I’ve had grandparents, parents and a brother who have attended Dordt and they emphasized how important the Christian atmosphere at Dordt set up and shaped them for the rest of their life,” said Raines.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
