Dordt will travel to Sioux City, Iowa and will face Briar Cliff starting at 6:00 on Tuesday, November 23.

Briar Cliff is 4-2 this season and 2-0 in GPAC play.  The Chargers have conference wins over Concordia and Mount Marty and non-conference losses to Dakota State and Saint Xavier.  The other two wins are over Dickinson State and Olivet Nazarene.

The Chargers are averaging 77 points per game and allow 66 points per outing and Briar Cliff is outrebounding teams 38-33. The Chargers are converting 47 percent of their field goals and 37 percent of its three-point shots while opponents are converting 42 percent of the field goals against the team.

Madelyn Deitchler scores 19.5 points to lead the Chargers and Konnor Sudmann is good for 11.7 points per game and Cadence Davis is scoring 8.8 points per outing.  Deitchler also averages 8.5 rebounds and is making 67 percent of her field goal tries.  


The Defenders are 6-2 this season and have losses to Grand View and Morningside and earned a conference win over Concordia to even the league record at 1-1.

Dordt outscores teams 72.8-68 and outrebound teams 39.4-36.3 while converting 39.6 percent of its field goals and limiting teams to 40.9 percent success.  

Ashtyn Veerbeek averages 17.9 points per game with 9.0 rebounds and she is averaging 2.6 blocks per contest. Hayden Heimensen adds 10.1 points per game with 3.1 rebounds and Bailey Beckman’s average is 10 points per game and she has the most made three-pointers this season for Dordt  with 11. Karley Gustafson is good for 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds and Mya Chmielewski is good for 8.0 points per contest.


Briar Cliff beat Mount Marty 68-45 on Saturday, November 17 in Yankton with Deitchler scoring 16 with seven rebounds and Davis had 12 points and Sudmann and Benne added 10 points each. Briar Cliff converted 26-54 field goals and had a 35-21 rebounding advantage.

Dordt dropped Concordia 69-60 on Saturday for the first GPAC win of the season. Hayden Heimensen scored 22 points with three assists. Veerbeek scored 20 with seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Gustafson had eight points and a game high 21 rebounds.


Dordt and Briar Cliff played three times last season with Briar Cliff taking two out of three.

In the opener November 24 the Chargers won 79-69 in Sioux Center. Riley Van Hulzen had a basket to go up 67-66 with 8:17 left but Briar Cliff outscored the Defenders 13-2 the rest of the game for the win. Sudmann had 21 points and Benne had 18. Bailey Beckman had 21 and Erika Feenstra added 14.

On February 20 the Defenders won 75-42 to close the regular season with Feenstra scoring 14 and Veerbeek had 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Chargers got 10 from Deitchler.

Four days later the Defenders lost 67-54 in the GPAC quarterfinals with Briar Cliff staking itself to a 27-17 halftime lead. Dordt was down 56-52 with 4:07 left in the game and gave up eight points in a row to close the game 67-54. Veerbeek had 17 points and 15 rebounds and Briar Cliff was topped by Condon with 16.
