Huisman And Stoesz Earn Academic All-District Honors

(Friday, November 19; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2021 Academic All-District Football Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in academics.  Dordt has two athletes on the list.

Alex Huisman (Senior; Pella, Iowa) and Abe Stoesz (Sophomore; Mountain Lake, Minnesota) have earned the honor announced late Thursday, November 18. 

Huisman earns the honor for the second time in his career and was a 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-American and NAIA All-American and he recently was named to the 2021 All-GPAC First-Team.   Huisman is an offensive lineman and is a biology major and has a 3.77 grade point average.

Stoesz played safety for the Defenders this season and earned All-GPAC honorable mention honors.  He had 33 solo and 12 assisted tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss with 2.5 sacks and two interceptions.  Stoesz is an engineering major with a 3.83 grade point average.

The all-district teams are divided into geographic areas.  Both Huisman and Stoesz will be on the ballot for Academic All-American consideration with those honorees announced in mid-December.
