All-Time...Thursday's match-up will be the Defenders 21st in the rivalry against Grand View. Dordt is 7-13 all-time against the Vikings, 3-7 in games played in Des Moines. Last year, Dordt defeated Grand View 75-64 on a neutral floor (in Orange City, Iowa).

Scouting Grand View...Kelly Greenway is set to begin her fourth season as the Vikings head coach and eighth year overall as a coach within the program.

Greenway led Grand View to a third place finish in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and a bid into the NAIA National Tournament Opening round in the 2020-21 season. They defeated Rochester (Mich.) in the first round of the Indianapolis Bracket but had their season come to an end with a loss to No.5 Marian (Ind.). Grand View finished with a 20-8 overall record.

Grand View was picked to finish fifth out of 14 teams in the HAAC preseason poll.

The Vikings return three starters and nine players from last year's team, led by All-American Shannon Pisney. Pisney poured in a team-high 20 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while making 93 three-pointers. McKenna Monahan scored 6.5 points per game and drained 38 three-pointers. Maddie Ahlstrom is the third returning starter and averaged 4.2 points to go with 82 assists.

Dordt Notes...The Defenders opened their 2021-22 season with a 75-61 road win against Presentation last week. Mya Chmielewski netted a career-high 22 points in the win, making 6-of-9 field goal attempts. Bailey Beckman chipped in 15 points, draining 3-of-6 three-pointers, and Janie Schoonhoven added 12 points and seven rebounds in her collegiate debut.

Dordt was picked third out of 12 teams in the GPAC preseason coaches poll.

The 2020-21 season saw the Defenders finish tied for fourth in the GPAC with a 14-8 record and lose to the Chargers in the conference quarterfinals for a 15-11 overall record. Four starters return from last year's squad, led by All-American Ashtyn Veerbeek. Karly Gustafson (2nd team all-conference) and Bailey Beckman (Honorable Mention all-conference), along with Chmielewski, also return.

Bill Harmsen returns for his fourth season as head coach.
