Volleyball Holds At 16th Spot

(Wednesday, October 27; Sioux Center, Iowa) The fifth NAIA Women’s Volleyball Coaches’ Top-25 Poll has been released and for the second poll in a row the Defenders are no. 16 in the balloting.

Dordt has a 15-7 overall record and posted a 3-2 record since the last poll was released on October 12.  The Defenders went on the road this past weekend and beat Doane and Hastings to improve to 7-6 in the league with three matches remaining.  Dordt took 266 votes in the polling and are 26 points behind Dakota Wesleyan at no. 15 and is seven points in front of Montana Tech in 17th.

Dordt is one of six GPAC teams in the top-16 with Jamestown holding the top-spot and Midland is no. 5.  The College of Saint Mary is no. 9; Northwestern no. 14 and Dakota Wesleyan no. 15.  All of the Dordt losses this season are to teams rated in front of them in the poll. 

Dordt will face Northwestern on October 27 in Orange City before returning home for the regular season home finale against Midland on October 30.  Dordt concludes the regular season on Tuesday, November 2.
