Football Maintains Spot In Top-20

(Tuesday, October 26; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender football team is no. 20 in the most recent NAIA Football FirstDown PlayBook Top-25 Poll released on Monday, October 25.

The Defenders dropped five spots in the voting after losing a 34-28 decision to no. 3 Morningside in conference play on Saturday. The Defenders are now 5-2 and prepare for a game this week against no. 2 Northwestern.  Dordt is the sixth highest rated team with two losses this season. Seven teams are currently undefeated in NAIA football.

The Defenders totaled 122 points in the voting and are nine points behind Faulkner (Alabama) and one point in front of Georgetown (Kentucky).   Lindsey Wilson, the defending national champion, continues to hold the no. 1 spot with a 7-0 overall record and 18 out of 19 first-place votes. Morningside is receiving the other first-place vote.

The poll is voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the NAIA conferences.
