The Tigers come into Saturday's match in a battle for one of the final spots in the upcoming, eight-team GPAC Tournament. They are 2-5-1 and currently in 10th place in the GPAC but just 1/2 game in back of Mount Marty, Midland and DWU with three matches left in the season. Doane is 2-10-2 overall.

Tony Odorisio is in his second season as the head of the Doane men's soccer program. He came to the Tigers in 2020 after a stint as the head coach at Iowa Wesleyan.

Doane finished the 2020 season with a 5-6 league record and tied Jamestown for sixth place in the standings. They lost to Briar Cliff 4-0 in the GPAC Quarterfinals to end the year at 5-8. Five starters and 16 players return from the 2020 season.

The Tigers have scored nine goals this season (.7 per match), led by Braden Lackey with three. Felipe Lopez is the only other Doane player who has scored multiple goals (2).

Defensively, Doane is giving up 2.7 goals per match. Andrew Fallas has made 63 saves in his first year as the Tigers' starting goal keeper.

The Defenders came away with a 4-0 setback to Jamestown in their last match played Wednesday in North Dakota. Dordt is now 1-8 in the conference, 2-12-2 overall, with two matches left in the regular season.

Blake Hansen continues to lead the Defenders offensively with 18 points, scoring eight goals to go with two assists. Phil Appelt (4 goals) and C.J. Schulz (3 goals) are the other Dordt players who have scored multiple goals.

Brandon Hansen has made 95 saves in 14 starts as the Defenders starting goal keeper.

Dordt is 6-15-1 all-time in the rivalry against Doane, dating back to the initial match-up played in 1998. Dordt has not defeated Doane since the 2010 season (1-0), going winless in its last 10 matches against its rival from Crete, Neb. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in 2012.
