Dordt will travel to face Morningside on Saturday, October 23 starting at 1:00.  The game will be played at Elwood Olsen Stadium near the Morningside campus.

The Mustangs are 6-0 overall and in the GPAC this season and are currently ranked no. 3 in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll.   

Steve Ryan’s team is averaging 63.3 points per game and allow 9.3 points per outing while gaining 652 yards on offense and giving up 215. Breaking it down further Morningside runs for 244 yards and pass for 408 while allowing 159 passing and 57 rushing.   The Mustangs have scored at least 56 points in each of its games and hasn’t allowed more than 14 in any contest. 

Joe Dolincheck is 122-169 passing for 1,953 yards and 19 touchdowns against four intereceptions. Reid Jurgensmeier leads the team with 42 catches and 110 yards a game and a 15.8 per catch average.  Austin Johnson has 24 catches for 21.8 yards per catch and six touchdowns and Caleb Schweigert has 23 catches for 15.2 yards per catch. Zach Norton also has 21 receptions for 23.1 per catch.  Jurgensmeier has eight touchdown catches.  

Anthony Sim has run 79 times for 688 yards and 19 touchdowns with an 8.7 yards per rush average and Ryan Cole is at 60 rushes for 273 yards and Michael Minor is at 6.5 yards per rush with 262 total yards this season.  Morningside’s offensive line has allowed just two quarterback sacks this season.  

Drew Bessey has three interceptions  and Tyler Wingert has two picks and leads the team in tackles with 30 solo and 25 assisted stops. Wingert leads the team with five sacks and  Morningside has 28 sacks as a team. Lonell Boyd has 18 solo and Jalen Portis has 17 solo tackles. Cooper Von Seggern has two interceptions and 15 solo tackles.   

Chase Carter is 52-53 on point after tries and is 1-3 on field goals with a long of 25. Colton Irlbeck has punted 14 times for a 40.1 average. 


The Defenders are 5-1 this season both overall and in the GPAC.  Dordt averages 509 yards per game on offense and allows 292.  Dordt runs for 313 yards and passes for 197.  Teams rush for 108 yards against Dordt and pass for 184.  Dordt is averaging 41.2 points per game and allows 13.8 points per contest. 

 Tyler Reynolds, Kade McDaniel and Ethan Thomas have all taken snaps at quarterback in five games this season. Reynolds is 32-45 passing for 501 yards with two interceptions and eight touchdowns.  McDaniel is 31-57 passing for 464 yards and two touchdowns and Thomas is 16-31 with two interceptions and one touchdown.  Reynolds has run for 250 yards on 45 carries; McDaniel 253 yards on 52 carries and Thomas 154 yards on 22 carries.  

Anthony Trojahn leads the team with 516 yards rushing on 82 carries for a 6.3 average and Josh Bush has an 8.4 yards per carry average with five touchdowns to Trojahn’s six.  Carter Schiebout has 44 rushes for 220 yards and Nick Wellen is at 4.6 yards on 34 carries.  

Levi Jungling has 39 catches for a 16.1 yards per catch average with seven touchdowns and Eli Boldan has 16 catches for 14.5 yards per catch with a score. Hayden Large has 10 catches for 17.4 yards and three scores.  

Brayton Van Kekerix has 28 solo and 13 assisted tops and Jalen Placide has 22 solos with an interception and Tanner Millikan and 20 solos and Abe Stoesz also has 20 solo stops. Abe Stoesz has two interceptions along with Grant Hixson and Nathan Kabongo leads the team with three interceptions.  Drew Daum leads the team with four sacks ad Colton Vander Berg has 3.5. sacks for a team that has a total of 19 sacks. 

Blade Koons has a 38.7 yards per punt average on 21 punts and Brett Zachman is 7-10 on field goals with a long of 41 and he is 29-30 on point after tries.   


Dordt turned away Dakota Wesleyan 45-13 on Saturday behind 558 yards of offense.  Josh Bush scored two touchdowns and had over 100 yards rushing and Levi Jungling had two catches for touchdowns and seven total receptions for 134 yards total.  Nathan Kabongo picked off two passes.  

Morningside passed for 332 yards and passed for 378 in an 84-7 win over Briar Cliff Saturday.  Dolincheck was 16-23 passing for 263 yards and three touchdowns and Michael Minor ran 15 times for 147 yards. Jurgensmeier and Scheigart had five and three catches each for 73 yards and five different players had touchdown catches and five different players had touchdown rushes.   


Morningside leads the series 12-0 and last year’s meeting was the closest of the series with the Mustangs winning 35-30 in Sioux Center. Dordt never led and trailed 35-30 after a Noah Clayberg carry with 13:15 left in the game.  Morningside punted and Dordt took over with 5:18 left in the game.  Dordt worked the ball to the Morningside six for first and goal but two carries for no gain set up third and goal and Dordt’s pass was intercepted with less than a minute remaining to preserve the win.  

Dordt outgained Morningside 484-435 with AJ Ponder leading Morningside with 165 yards on 28 carries and Noah Clayberg had 182 yards on 33 carries. Jurgensmeier had 115 yards receiving on three catches and Jayden Huisman had eight catches for 86 yards for the Defenders.  


Morningside is at home with Jamestown on October 30  before going on the road to face Northwestern and Dakota Wesleyan the final two weeks of the season.  

Dordt will travel to Northwestern on Saturday, October 30 before hosting Briar Cliff and traveling to Jamestown the final two weeks of the regular season.
