Women's Soccer Hosts Doane For Senior Day


Dordt University is set to host Doane this weekend in the final home match of the regular season. Game time is set for 1pm on the Defenders Soccer Complex.

Saturday's match will also be senior day where the four seniors associated with this year's program will be recognized; Madison Byl, Hannah Glynn, Claire Jansen and Jaclyn Vander Waal.

Doane is winless over its last eight matches and is in 11th place in the current GPAC standings with a 1-7-1 record, 3-10-1 overall. Since a 1-1 tie against DWU, they have dropped three straight to Hastings (3-0), College of Saint Mary (2-1) and Midland (2-0). Doane's lone win in conference play was a 2-0 victory against Mount Marty on Sept. 15.

Hired prior to the 2016 season, Jennifer Kennedy-Croft is in her sixth year as the head coach of the Doane women's soccer program. Kennedy-Croft returns virtually her entire squad from a 2020 team that finished with a 1-14-3 overall record.

Doane was picked 12th in the GPAC preseason poll. They are averaging under one goal per game and have been shutout five times. Michaela Thompson and Emily Guiton have scored three goals each and Lexi Torok leads the team with four assists.

The Tigers are giving up 2.1 goals per match, led by the all-conference goal keeper Danielle Dubovy with 75 saves. 


The Defenders lost to unbeaten Jamestown 2-0 last time out and are in ninth place in the current GPAC standings with a 4-5-1 record. Following Saturday's home match against the Tigers, Dordt will close the regular season on the road against Hastings.

Saturday's match against Doane is the final home contest for the four Dordt seniors; Madison Byl, Hannah Glynn, Claire Jansen and Jaci Vander Waal.

  • Madison Byl - four-year letter winner; played in 43 matches; Social Work major.
  • Hannah Glynn - all-conference in 2020; four-year letter winner and three-year starter; played in 63 matches; Business Administration, Marketing and Spanish major.
  • Claire Jansen - three-year letter winner, played in 37 matches with 19 starts; Business Administration / Marketing / Human Resource Management major.
  • Jaci Vander Waal - played on the junior varsity; English / Language Arts - Secondary Education major.


Dordt holds a 17-8-1 lead in the all-time series and is unbeaten in last six matches against the Tigers. The Defenders are 10-2 all-time at home. 

Last year, Dordt and Doane played to a 1-1, double overtime tie.
