Football 15th In Poll

(Wednesday, October 20; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender football team is no. 15 in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Poll released Monday by the NAIA.  Dordt is 5-1 this season and has won five games in a row including back to back games since their bye week on October 2.

Dordt turned away Dakota Wesleyan by a 45-13 margin on Saturday to improve to 5-1 in the GPAC as the Defenders hold on to third place in the GPAC.  Dordt totaled 187 points and is three points in front of Rocky Mountain (Montana).  The Defenders are up three spots from last week’s poll and will face no. 3 Morningside on Saturday, October 23.

Lindsey Wilson (Kentucky), the defending NAIA National Champion, holds the top spot in the polling and took 18 out of 19 first-place votes. The top-25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams.  A team receives 25 points for each first-place vote, 24 for second-place and so on through the list. Each conference is given one rater for every four schools in the league.
