Student to hold violin and flute recital November 6

Dordt University senior Brianna Miedema will be presenting a violin and flute recital on Saturday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium with a public reception to follow.

Highlights of the recital include Felix Mendelssohn’s intense and captivating “Violin Concerto in E Minor” and the fun and playful “Piccolo Moods” by Blaž Pucihar, which has beautiful melodies that can be found throughout its three movements, “Happiness,” “Sorrow,” and “Joy.” Miedema will be accompanied by Dordt University violin and viola instructor Jennifer Frens.

Miedema, of Sioux Center, Iowa, is majoring in K-12 Instrumental Music Education. She has studied flute with Stephanie Kocher and violin with Jennifer Frens since 2018. She has participated in the Iowa Collegiate Honor Band and was a violinist in the Iowa All-State Orchestra for all four years of high school.
