Women's Soccer Hosts Presentation This Weekend


Dordt University looks for back-to-back wins when they host Presentation (S.D.) for a GPAC women's soccer match this weekend. Game time is set for noon on the Defenders Soccer Complex.

The Saints have dropped three straight matches coming into the weekend, losing to Hastings, Jamestown and Dakota Wesleyan. They are 1-6 in the GPAC and in 12th place in the current standings, 2-7-1 overall. Presentation has wins over Waldorf and Doane this season.

Only a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference in women's and men's soccer, Presentation is affiliated with the North Star League in all other sports. They were picked 13th in the preseason coaches' poll.

John McLean is in the midst of his third season as the head of the Saints program and returns six starters, nine players from a 2020 team that finished with a 0-12-2 record. 

Presentation is scoring 1.2 goals per match, led by the duo of Amy Turner and Georgia-May Turner with three goals each. Defensively, the Saints are giving up 3.3 goals per game. Two players, Aspen Payne (27 saves) and Lexi Boone (32 saves), share time in goal


The Defenders edged Northwestern 3-2 last time out and have won three of their last four matches heading into Saturday. They are in ninth place in the current GPAC standings at 3-4-1 but are just 1.5 games out of third place (Concordia). Dordt has four regular season matches left.

Avril Baccam scored another goal in the win against Northwestern to up her season total to 15. She is tied for seventh in the NAIA in goals scored and 10th in total points (35). Baccam is tied for fifth in program history for goals scored in a season, trailing Kate Dumez (2009) by two goals. Jori Bronner is second on the team with seven goals and 17 points.

Jenna Wright has an 8-4-1 record as the Defenders starting goal keeper. The freshman has made 59 saves and is giving up 1.3 goals per match.


Dordt is unbeaten (6-0-1) in the rivalry against the Saints, dating back to the 2007 season. The teams have played once in each of the last five seasons. Dordt earned a 2-0 win last season.
