Dakota Wesleyan is 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the GPAC with wins this season over Mount Marty, Hastings and Doane.  The losses are to Dakota State, Midland and Concordia.  The Tigers have not won two in a row or lost two in a row up to this point.  

The Tigers average 13.0 points per game and allow 16.5 points per game on average.  Wesleyan is throwing for 163 yards per game and running for 123 while giving up 173 yards per game in the air and 125 on the ground.  The Tigers gain 286 yards on offense per contest and allow 299 per outing.  

Kiel Nelson is 79-158 passing for 852 yards and six touchdowns with seven interceptions. Nelson has run for 219 yards on 53 carries and Jamin Arend has run for 446 yards on 94 carries with two touchdowns and a 4.7 yards per carry average. Jakob Oxos has 19 catches for a 13.8 yards per catch average with three touchdowns.  Arend has 20 catches with 10.4 yards per catch and one score. Garrett Determan and Preston Nedved each have 12 catches with Determan averaging 15.1 yards per catch.  

Cody Reichelt has 60 total tackles with six sacks and a forced fumble. Hunter Cordell has 26 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss and Joshua Garry has 35 tackles and Ethan Engen has 21 tackles.  Wesleyan has one interception this season and the defense has forced two fumbles.  

Tate Gale is 8-10 on point after tries while Trevor Lambert is 1-1 on extra points and 1-2 on field goals—a 27 yarder. Trevor Lambert has nine punts for a 34.3 yards per punt average and Tate Gale has punted 28 times for a 30.9 average and both have long punts of 50.   


Dordt is 4-1 this season both overall and in the GPAC. Dordt has won four in a row since a 25-24 loss to Midland. Dordt’s wins over Hastings, Concordia, Doane and Mount Marty.  

The Defenders average 40.4 points per game while allowing 14.0 points per contest. Dordt runs for 306 yards and passes for 194 for 500 yards per game on average. The defense is allowing 185 passing and 77 rushing for 262 per game.  

Tyler Reynolds is 21-29 passing for 362 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions. Kade McDaniel  is 30-56 passing for a touchdown and 392 yards and Ethan Thomas is 16-31 for 218 yards and a touchdown.  Levi Jungling has 32 catches for a 15.5 yards per catch average with five touchdowns and Eli Boldan has 15 catches for 14.9 yards per catch.  Hayden Large has eight catches and two touchdown receptions and Carson Brown has six catches.  

Anthony Trojahn has run for 434 yards on 67 rushes for a 6.5 average per rush with five touchdowns. Kade McDaniel has 51 rushes for 264 yards an Tyler Reynolds has 33 rushes for 204.  Josh Bush and Carter Schiebout have 33 and 39 rushes each for 195 and 183 and Nick Wellen has run 138. 

Brayton Van Kekerix has 34 tackles this season with one forced fumble and Jalen Placed has 25 tackles and an interception. Bryce Christian and Drew Daum have 22 and 20 tackles each and Daum has four sacks while Christian has two.  Tanner Millikan has been in on 24 tackles and Abe Stoesz has 22 tackles with 2.5 sacks and two interceptions. Colton Vander Berg has 2.5 sacks and Sam Andrews has two sacks and seven tackles for loss. Six different players have at least an interception and Zade Niklasen has two along with Stoesz.  


Dakota Wesleyan beat Doane 17-13 on Saturday and used a field goal and touchdown in the second half for the four-point win. Doane’s last score came with less than a minute remaining  and made the final 17-13. Dakota Wesleyan ran for 76 yards and passed for 181 in the defensive struggle with Nelson completing 19-25 passes for 181 yards and he ran for 25 yards while Jamin Arend had 15 carries for 41 yards. Jakob Oxos had three catches for 41 yards and Arend had seven catches for 35 yards. Victor Kniesche had 10 tackles in the win.  

Dordt beat Mount Marty 63-21 last week with 618 yards gained.  Dordt turned a 14-7 deficit midway through the second quarter into a 28-14 halftime lead and Dordt eventually ran of 56 unanswered points on the way to the win. Tyler Reynolds ran for 176 yards and passed for 166 with three touchdowns on the ground and three passing. Kade McDaniel ran for 73 yards and Anthony Trojahn had 47. Jungling caught 11 passes for 152 yards and Eli Boldan had three catches for 34 yards. Millikan had eight tackles and Van Kekerix had seven while Stoesz, Placide and Christian had six tackles  each with Zade Niklasen and Stoesz each picking off a pass. 


Dordt was a 47-10 winner last season in Mitchell and led 33-3 at halftime. Dordt outgained the hosts 555-298 with 380 on the ground and Schiebout ran for 143 yards on 15 carries and Michael Sondermann ran for 82 yards on 15 carries. Noah Clayberg was 15-20 passing for 159 yards and Jungling caught nine passes for 99 yards. Wesleyan was led by Zach Lester with 15-21 passing for 122 yards and Nelson was 4-8 passing for 97 yards.  


Dordt will travel to face Morningside on Saturday, October 23.
