Defenders Host Mount Marty In GPAC Volleyball


Dordt will host Mount Marty in junior varsity and varsity volleyball action this Friday night, October 15 at the De Witt Gym.  The junior varsity contest will start at 6:00 with the varsity to get underway at 7:30.

The Lancers are 7-13 this season and 1-9 in GPAC play with a conference victory over Hastings to their credit on October 1.

Mount Marty is averaging 11.9 kills per set while allowing 12.2 and the Lancers have allowed 110 ace serves this season while getting 104.  Mount Marty gets 1.26 points per set on blocks and surrender 2.52. Gabby Ruth averages 3.09 kills per set with 1.2 digs and Alexis Kirkman averages 2.55 kills and Allison Jones is at 2.0.  Ally De Lange puts up 9.5 assists per set and Molly Brinkman accounts for 3.09 digs per set.


The Defenders are 12-6 this season and 4-5 in league play and are rated no. 16 in the most recent NAIA Coaches’ Poll. 

Corrina Timmermans leads the team with a 3.65 kills per set average and Jessi Franken’s average is 2.59.  Alli Timmermans is good for 2.49 kills per set with a .280 kill efficiency while Grace Langemeier and Danielle Vande Voort are averaging 1.4 and 1.2 kills per set.   Megan Raszler averages 6.4 assists per outing and Campbell Marshall adds 4.6.  Erica Bousema’s average is 5.7 digs per set.

Dordt is averaging 12.38 kills per contest while allowing 12.26.  Dordt has an 86-69 ace serves lead the season on opponents and Dordt accounts for 2.13 points per set on blocks while surrendering 1.77.


Dordt lost to Dakota Wesleyan on October 12, 17-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-21. Danielle Vande Voort and Corrina Timmermans each had 11 kills and Raszler 29 assists while Bousema got to 18 digs.  Jessi Franken had nine kills and four assisted blocks in the setback.

Mount Marty lost to Jamestown in Yankton on Saturday, October 9 by set scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-19.  Allison Jones recorded nine kills and Alexis Kirkman and Morgan Stohlmann had six kills each. De Lange put up 24 assists and Brinkman had 11 digs.


The two teams played once last season with Dordt winning 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 on October 23 in Yankton. Brenna Krommendyk had 10 kills and Jori Bronner eight while Alli Timmermans recorded seven.  Raszler and Corrina Beimers split the setting with 22 and 13 assists each and Hannah Connelly got to 10 digs.   Mount Marty’s Elizabeth Watchorn led all players with 15 kills and Gabby Ruth had 11.


Dordt will face the College of Saint Mary on Saturday at 5:00.
