Dordt to host three concerts during Defender Days

Dordt University’s Music Department will be hosting three music events happening during Defender Days. All events will be in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

The 4th Avenue Jazz Concert will take place on Friday, October 15, at 3 p.m. This concert will include the 4th Avenue Singers and the 4th Avenue Band.

The Fall Festival will take place Friday, October 15, at 7 p.m. The concert features Canons of Dordt, Bella Voce, Chorale, Concert Choir, Chamber Orchestra, Campus-Community Band, and the Wind Symphony. There will also be an organ prelude by Dordt organ students; a combined performance of Claude T. Smith's "God of Our Fathers" from the Concert Choir, Chorale, and Wind Symphony; and a mass choir performance of "Soli Deo Gloria" composed by Ryan Smit, instructor of music at Dordt.

“In Christ Alone: Hymn-Based Organ Music of Larry Visser" will be presented on Saturday, October 16, at 10:30 a.m. Visser is an organist, choral conductor, and composer coming to Dordt as part of the Joan Ringerwole Organ Recital Series. He will also be giving a masterclass on Friday, October 15, at 9 a.m. Visser is Minister of Music & Chancel Organist at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
