Defender Hockey Travels to Colorado for Weekend Series


Dordt hockey will go on a three-game road trip to Colorado this weekend, playing Air Force, UC Colorado Springs, and Colorado School of Mines. The Defenders play Air Force at 7:45 PM on Thursday, Colorado Springs at 11:45 PM on Friday, and Colorado Mines at 11:00 PM on Saturday.

Air Force comes into Thursday's game with a record of 1-3-0. Mackenzie Miller and Jonathan Shinneman are the leading goal scorers with three each. Justin Jung leads the team in assists with four.

Colorado Springs will be playing their third game of the year as they face Dordt on Friday night. No stats or records have been updated at this point in the season.

Colorado School of Mines has played four games so far this season, opening the year with two losses to New Mexico and then playing against Colorado Springs last weekend. The Orediggers will play Dallas Baptist on Thursday before playing the Defenders on Saturday.


Dordt opened the year 2-0 after a sweeping a doubleheader with Nebraska-Omaha last weekend.

The Defenders are led in goals by Dawson Kaemingh, who has three goals to go along with three assists. Kyle Espenson, Eli Visscher, and Alex Espenson each have scored two goals. Dordt is led in assists by Kyle Espenson with four.


Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Springs faced each other last weekend in a two-game series. Air Force is coming off of a 6-4 loss to Creighton.

Dordt picked up a win last Saturday versus Nebraska-Omaha 4-0. Dawson Kaemingh scored two goals in the win and Jackson Cross had a shutout in goal with 16 saves.
