The Dordt Defenders begin the year with a pair of contests versus Nebraska-Omaha. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Friday, October 1 and 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 2

The Mavericks have gone 0-2 thus far in the 2021-22 season, taking two losses on the road at Missouri. Ryan Huppe and Nate Sinnett are the team's leading goal-scorers with two goals each in the early season.


The Defenders will be playing their opening game of the 2021-22 year after finishing 3-4-1 last season. Kyle Espenson led the team with 11 points after tallying seven goals and four assists. Dordt had three skaters - Eli Visscher, Sam DeJong, and Jonah Weems - with six goals each.


Nebraska-Omaha fell 7-6 to Missouri their last time out on the ice. Nate Sinnett had two goals as the Mavericks lost in an offensive showcase.

Dordt is playing their first game of the season, but finished the 2020-21 season with a 3-0 loss to Iowa State on the road.


This weekend will be the first matchup between the two hockey clubs in recorded history.
