Men's Cross Country To Run At GPAC Preview

The Event...No.13 Dordt University will continue its 2021 season this weekend at a GPAC Preview meet held at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa. Friday's 8K race is set to start at 5:30pm and Northwestern will serve as the host institution.

Teams Competing...At this time, there are four teams scheduled to run on Friday and all from the Great Plains Athletic Conference; Briar Cliff, Dordt, Mount Marty and the host team, Northwestern.

A Look Ahead...Friday's race takes place on the same course and venue as the GPAC Championship that will be held on the first Saturday in November.

Last Time Out...The Defenders finished third among 31 teams at the Augustana Twilight, a meet held last weekend at the Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Dordt totaled 123 points and were ahead of both University of Nebraska and the University of South Dakota (NCAA D-I), among other teams, in the team standings. The Defenders were the top NAIA team, finishing over 200 points ahead of next closest NAIA squad.

Jacob Vander Plaats was the top runner for head coach Nate Wolf's squad, finishing 15th overall with a 4-mile time of 20:14. The senior received GPAC runner of the week honors for his efforts. Davis Tebben and Joe Anderson were close behind in 23rd and 27th place overall while Thaniel Schroeder (32nd), Nicolas Veldhorst (34th) and Eric Steiger (42nd) also placed in the top 50.
