Vander Plaats Claims GPAC Honor

Jacob Vander Plaats was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Hauff Mid-America Sports men's cross country runner of the week as announced by the league office.

Vander Plaats posted the fastest time among NAIA competitors at the Augustana Twilight, one of the largest meets of the season. The senior finished 14th out of 344 runners and completed the 4-mile course in a time of 20:14.

  • "Jacob is coming off of an incredible indoor and outdoor track season that saw him repeat as an All American indoors in the mile and earn his first All American award in the 1500," said Dordt Head Coach Nate Wolf. "Jacob is racing with immense confidence and that showed from the position he put himself in from the gun.  A 15th place finish in this quality field was a great way to lead the men’s team to an outstanding third place team finish."

Dordt finished third as a team overall, ahead of a couple of NCAA D-I teams, and was the top NAIA squad.
