GPAC Football Poll Released

(Tuesday, August 10; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference Preseason Football Coaches’  Poll has been released for the 2021 season.  The Dordt Defenders are slotted third in the annual voting done by the  11 conference coaches. 

The Defenders finished the 2020 season with a 7-2 conference record  and advanced to the NAIA Playoff Series for the first time in program history.  The Defenders totaled 82 points in the voting and were nine points in front of Midland in the voting and 11 points shy of Northwestern in the number two spot.  Morningside, the defending conference champion, took eight first place votes in the balloting and had 98 points.  

Dordt opens the 2021 season at home against Midland on Saturday, September 4.  The Defenders will play four games at home out of their first six contests and will play a total of five games at Open Space Park.  Dordt is scheduled to play nationally ranked Morningside on October 23 and Northwestern on October 30.  Both of those games will be on the road.
