Van Wyngarden Added To Soccer Program

(Monday, June 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Elle Van Wyngarden, a recent graduate of Ripon Christian (California), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.

“We are looking forward to Elle joining us in August. Elle is an athlete with killer speed and that is something that we could use up top. Elle will be a great fit for our program spiritually, academically and athletically. We can’t wait to get her on campus,” said Dordt soccer coach Alex Durbin.

Van Wyngarden is a 5-6 midfielder and forward and has scored 43 goals the last three season and capped her high school career with 10 goals and four assists this season.  She was an all-league selection in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and was named a scholar-athlete those three seasons as well. She helped Ripon Christian to a 13-0-1 record in 2019-20 and a league title.

“I came to visit the campus in March and Coach Durbin invited me to scrimmage with the team. Everyone was very welcoming—I was so impressed with their skill level and willingness to help me and the athletic facilities on campus are amazing,” said Van Wyngarden.

Elle is the daughter of Darwin and Mary Pat Van Wyngarden. She plans to study Environmental Science at Dordt.
