(Monday, June 7; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ellie Voss has announced her intention to transfer to Dordt University and join the Defender volleyball program. Voss recently completed her junior year at Cal Baptist University.
“Ellie was a very strong and highly sought after recruit right out of high school. For three seasons at Cal Baptist University, she produced great offense and defense in her role as a middle hitter. Thanks to high school coach Darci Wassenaar and CBU coaches Branden Higa, Blair Penner, and Michelle Wright for investing in Ellie’s development. We are so happy that she has found our campus and volleyball program to be her next home where she will continue her academic and athletic career. Ellie will be another wonderful ambassador to live out The Defender Way as she seeks to love the Lord and serve Him and others in all areas of her life,” said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.
Voss is a 6-2 middle blocker who played in 18 matches for the Lancers in 2018 and followed that with 19 starts in 2019 with a .266 kill efficiency and was named to the WAC All-Academic team. Voss played in 15 of Cal Baptist’s 16 matches this past season and averaged 1.8 kills per set. Prior to attending Cal Baptist, Voss was an all-state selection three times and was a three-time all-state tournament team selection.
“I love the community and the kindness I’ve been shown throughout my interactions with the people at Dordt, and I think that Dordt promotes growth in so many areas and I’m so excited to grow spiritually, academically, and athletically,” said Voss.
Ellie is the daughter of Ivan and Angie Voss of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She’s studying Art Education.
