Baseball Announces 2021 Recruiting Class

(Wednesday, May 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt University baseball program has announced 20 recent commitments for the 2021-22 school year.

"I am excited about this group of young men we have coming in because of the men they are and their abilities on the field. They were drawn to Dordt because of the mission of the institution and what it means to be part of Defender nation. I look forward to seeing them live out the Defender Way and being a part of growth on and off the field during their time here. I want to thank Coach Eshelman and Coach Roose for being an instrumental part of putting this class together. I can't wait for these young men to be on campus in the fall!" said Dordt baseball coach Nathan Bacon.

Dylan Brown is a 6-0 pitcher from Rossview High School (Tennessee). He was a member of a state championship team and plans to study Construction Management at Dordt.

Jacob Burdette, a senior at Foster High School (Texas), has announced his intention to join the Defender baseball program. Burdette is a 6-1 pitcher and was selected as an Academic All-State Honorable Mention. Jacob plans to study Construction Management.

Nolan Daniels is a 5-10 pitcher for Catamount Baseball Club and attended Colorado Springs Early College (Colorado). Nolan plans to study Business at Dordt.

Kaden Davis is a 6-3 first baseman and outfielder from West Marshall High School (Iowa). He has personal bests of a .462 batting average, 26 RBI, and 24 runs scored. Davis was also selected to the First-Team All-State baseball team in 2019 and 2020, and was a First-Team All-Conference Academic selection in baseball and football both years. Kaden plans to study Electrical Engineering.

Nate Freeman is a 5-10 pitcher from Lamar High School (Arkansas). He finished with a 1.4 ERA for the Warriors. Nate plans to study Exercise Science Dordt.

Dylan Graham pitched and played infield for Des Moines Roosevelt (Iowa), holding a .409 batting average. Dylan plans to study Criminal Justice at Dordt.

Cooper Hainy is a 6-4 shortstop from Wessington Springs High School (South Dakota). He was a multi-sport athlete and played on a conference championship team. Cooper plans to study Engineering.

Jacob Haringa pitched for Ontario Christian High School (California) and was a member of the Southern California Bombers Baseball Club. Haringa had a 2.11 ERA his sophomore year with 46 strikeouts on 33 innings pitched. Jacob plans to study Ag-Business.

Caden Hill, a 5-6 senior at Verrado High School (Arizona), has announced his intention to join the Dordt baseball program. Hill pitched for a nationally-ranked Pro Diamond Performance club, having a sub-3.50 ERA in his sophomore and junior years. Caden plans to study Mechanical Engineering.

Caden Hollingsworth is a 6-2 first and third baseman from Independence High School (Tennessee), and has announced his intention to join Dordt baseball. Hollingsworth held a .330 batting average and was a member of the Dulin Dodgers baseball program. Caden plans to study Business.

Spencer Lamond, a 5-9 outfielder from Millard West High School (Nebraska), has announced his intention to join the Defender baseball program. Spencer plans to enter the pre-Physical Therapy program.

Logan Leivian is a 5-9 middle infielder from Eaglecrest High School (Colorado) and a member of the Colorado Rogue Baseball Club. Leivian hit .302 at the plate with a .903 fielding percentage as a captain and four-year letterman in both baseball and football. Logan plans to study Marketing at Dordt.

Korie Likes pitched and played outfield and first base for Montezuma Cortez High School (Colorado). Likes, a 6-0 senior, earned an all-conference award his sophomore year and was also an all-state performer in football. He had season-highs of 27 RBI and a .362 batting average. Korie plans to study Economics at Dordt.

Chris Louie is a 6-0 outfielder from Dawson Community College (Alberta) and has announced his intention to join the Defender baseball program. In the 2020 fall season, Louie batted .533 with an On Base Percentage of .737 and 2 home runs. Chris plans to study Engineering.

Isaiah Nanninga is a 6-2 outfielder from Edmonton Christian High School (Alberta). In 2019, Nanninga had a personal best batting average of .356. Isaiah plans to study Biology.

Dillon Pilkerton is a 6-2 pitcher from Salmon High School (Idaho). He had personal bests of 1.30 ERA with 48 strikeouts on the mound, along with a .517 average at the plate. Dillon plans to study Engineering at Dordt.

Mason Price is a 5-10 catcher and pitcher from Avon Park High School (Florida). Last season, Price had a batting average of .333 and played with the Under Armour Legends Organization. Mason plans to study Mechanical Engineering and Agriculture.

Zachary Sedakis, a 6-0 catcher and outfielder from Chicago Christian High School (Illinois), has announced his intention to join the Dordt baseball program. In his senior year with Chicago Christian, he hit .429 with a .657 slugging percentage. Sedakis was also a member of conference and regional championship teams and played with Prestige Baseball. Zachary plans to study Mechanical Engineering.

Carter Scott is a 5-9 pitcher from Park Hill High School (Missouri) and a member of the Prodigy Baseball Academy. During summer ball, Scott had a 3.15 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 26.2 innings pitched. Carter's plan of study is undecided.

Kyle Simpson is a 6-2 outfielder and pitcher from Algona High School (Iowa). Simpson was a multi-sport athlete in baseball, basketball, and trapshooting. He lettered in all three sports and was named to the North Central Conference 3rd Team in basketball. Kyle plans to study Agriculture at Dordt.
