Van Beek Signs On With Defenders

(Wednesday, March 31; Sioux Center, Iowa) Xavier Van Beek, a senior at Sioux Falls Christian (South Dakota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

“Xavier had an outstanding senior year, as his team won a State Championship.  He is a winner.   He is an outstanding shooter, and has made a lot of big shots in his career.  We look forward to his growth as a player, and as a man of God,” said Dordt coach Brian Van Haaften.

Van Beek averaged 16 points per game for the Chargers in helping them to a state title in 2021 and he averaged 13 points per game as a junior and eight points per game two years ago. He was a second-team all-conference selection in 2021 and also claimed South Dakota State Basketball All-Tournament team honors.  He is the single-season three-point baskets made record-holder at Sioux Falls Christian with 75.

“I loved the culture and want to build friendships that will last a lifetime,” said Van Beek.

Xavier is the son of Verlyn and Michelle Van Beek of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He plans to study Accounting and Finance at Dordt.
