Gonzalez To Join Defender Soccer

(Tuesday, March 23; Sioux Center, Iowa) Arnau Gonzalez, a student at Escola Pia Sabadell, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.

“Throughout the recruitment process, Arnau has thoroughly impressed us with his character and drive. He is a great fit for our program and the Dordt community. We are looking forward to the impact and growth he will have during his time here. We are excited to add Arnau to our 2021 class!” said Dordt soccer coach Ryan Gresse.

Gonzalez has played mostly midfield and back up to this point and has served as team captain for three years.  He’s played for teams that have won the Catalan First Division, Sabadell Cup and the Girona Cup runner-up.

“Dordt is a really good fit for me. Academically Dordt meets my expectation and I think it will be a good place for studying and improving as a student, but, above all as a person. Athletically, I had a great feeling with Coach Gresse and Coach Bourdo and I can’t wait to start working with the team, to know them, to do my best and to help the team with whatever it needs,” said Gonzalez.

Arnau is the son of Ignacio Gonzalez and Nuria Suarez. He’s undecided on a field of study.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
