(Wednesday, March 3; Sioux Center, Iowa) Carter Raiche, a senior at Rogers High School (Minnesota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.
“Carter is a hard-working and competitive athlete who has not only sought his own volleyball development opportunities through playing indoor club volleyball and outdoor doubles but has also added on other aspects with coaching youth teams during any free time that he has. He will add depth to our ball control position as he continues to expand his abilities into the college tempo. We are grateful for the work that coaches Bo Schmidt and Charlie De La Vara have invested into Carter’s development. He will be a wonderful addition to our campus community as he continues to seek for growth in all areas of his life while living out The Defender Way,” said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.
Raiche has competed for the Lakeside Volleyball Club and was part of a team that finished seventh in the Minnesota Men’s Volleyball State Tournament and finished third at the Lakeside Volleyball Beach 2s 2020 Tournament. Raiche was also an academic all-conference recipient in soccer for Rogers High School.
“I chose Dordt because I felt the strongest connection to Dordt. There was no other school that connected to me like Dordt. It was like a calling from God I was meant to be at Dordt. The opportunity to play volleyball was also a huge factor in my choice. My goal since I began playing volleyball my sophomore year of high school was to continue playing college. I prayed if Dordt was where I was meant to be God would provide with everything I needed to make it there. Dordt University felt like home and I am proud to be a Defender,” said Raiche.
Carter is the son of Mike and Jocelyn Raiche of Rogers, Minnesota. He plans to study Engineering at Dordt.
