Flores Joins Defender Soccer

(Tuesday, January 19; Sioux Center, Iowa) Gerardo Flores, a student at International School Tegucigalpa, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.
“Gerardo was a pleasant surprise at the semester break. We look forward to seeing his integration with our team through this spring. We are excited to have him at Dordt,” said men’s soccer coach Ryan Gresse.
Flores is a goalkeeper and was named to the Honduran all-star team and selected MVP and best defensive player and goalkeeper. He played for a Honduran ABSH Champion team in 2019 and the Honduran ABSH sub-champions in 2020.
“I chose Dordt because its community is so friendly and united. The moment I saw the team I knew I had to be a part of it. I commit myself to represent Dordt in the best way I can, giving my best in every game and every practice,” said Flores.
Gerardo is the son of Denia Marilu Rodriguez Alvarez and Fausto Gerardo Flores Giron. He plans to study Biology at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
