Dordt Music Department to host organist Dr. Isabelle Demers

Ringerwole Organ Recital Series to host Isabelle Demers on November 7

Dr. Isabelle Demers

As part of the Ringerwole Organ Recital Series, guest artist Dr. Isabelle Demers will present a concert on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Described as “bracing virtuosity” by the Chicago Classical Review, Isabelle Demers has enraptured audiences around the globe. Her recital for the International Society of Organbuilders-American Institute of Organbuilders convention “left the entire congress in an atmosphere of ‘Demers fever.’” She has performed throughout Europe, Great Britain, Oman, China, Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., and Canada, and has CDs on the Acis and Pro Organo labels. A native of Québec and a graduate of the Juilliard School, Demers is head of the organ program at Baylor University in Texas. Her program includes works by Bruhns, Bach, and Mendelssohn; selections from Alkan’s Etudes for the Feet, two works by living composers, Rachel Laurin and Jason Roberts, and her own transcription of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

Masks are required for all recital attendees and seating will be socially distanced. Dordt University continues to monitor how Covid-19 affects our campus and community.
