Women's Soccer Hosts Jamestown Saturday


The Defender women’s soccer team will host Jamestown in GPAC play on Saturday, October 17. The women’s contest will get underway at 2:15 pm.





Spectator Guidelines


Jamestown is 4-3 this season and 2-3 in the GPAC and most recently played Concordia on October 10 and lost a 2-1 overtime decision. In fact, the Jimmies have lost two games in a row by a 2-1 score having lost to Northwestern on October 3 as well.

Jamestown has outscored teams 11-8 and outshot teams on goal 54-38. Kamryn Fiscus has three goals and three assists this season and Alex Nowka has played all 644 minutes in goal and has allowed eight goals with 30 saves.


Dordt is 5-4-1 this season and 4-3-1 in GPAC play after a 1-0 win on the road against Midland on Wednesday, October 14.   Dordt is 4-2-1 in its last seven games. 

Dordt has outscored teams this season 19-15 and outshot them on goal 90-74. Alaina Van Zalen has six goals and two assists to lead the Dordt offense and Maddie Regnerus has three while  Emma Visser, Claire Jansen and Katherine Kooiman all have two goals scored.  Elianna Van Hulzen has played five games in goal and 425 minutes and has allowed three goals with 28 saves and a 0.6 goals per game allowed average. DeLynne Zevenbergen has played 294 minutes and has six goals allowed with 21 saves.


Dordt’s Alaina Van Zalen scored a goal in the 23rd minute and that proved to be enough as Dordt held off the Midland Warriors on Wednesday night in Fremont, Nebraska. Van Hulzen made five saves in goal to preserve the shutout and Dordt had a 7-5 shots on goal advantage.

Last Saturday the Jimmies scored a goal in the 16th minute and held a 1-0 lead until the 86th minute when Concordia tied the game and eventually won it in the second minute of overtime.  Nowka had one save and faced three shots on goal in a game where offense was at a premium. Jamestown mustered four shots on goal in the loss.


Jamestown took a 3-0 decision from Dordt on October 24 last season with goals in the third, 11th and 14th minutes all by different players.  Fiscus had the first goal and what proved to be the game winner and Nowka played 78 minutes in goal and had three saves.  Dordt leads the series 8-6.


Dordt is on the road next week with a game against Northwestern on October 21 and a game at Doane in Crete, Nebraska on Saturday, October 24.
