Volleyball Hosts Jamestown Friday

Dordt will play a GPAC match on Friday, September 25 against Jamestown. The JV match will start at 6:00 and the varsity match at 7:30. Video of the match will be available at https://livestream.com/dordtwebcast/volleyball

Jamestown is its season opener after posting a 33-6 record last season. Jamestown got hot at the end of the season and won the GPAC postseason championship while also advancing to the NAIA National Championship Semifinals.
The Jimmies return Anna Holen with her 1.32 kills per set from last season along wth Corina Huff and 1.97 kills per set. Taylor Sabinash was good for 1.49 kills per set last season. Jackie Meiklejohn was one of the setters in the two-setter offense with 4.86 assists per set. Sydney Ellingson is back after averaging a team high 4.48 digs per outing.
The Defenders are 5-0 after a win over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, September 23 and are 4-0 in GPAC play.
Karsyn Winterfeld has a 3.1 kills per set average with 3.06 digs per outing. Jessi De Jager puts in 2.59 kills per outing and has a .406 kill efficiency. Brenna Krommendyk is at 2.65 kills per set and Corrina Timmermans averages 2.18 kills per set with 2.82 digs per outing. Hannah Connelly leads the team with 4.88 . Megan Raszler and Corina Beimers are at 6.88 and 5.06 assists per set. Dordt averages 13.9 kills per set with a .307 kill efficiency while getting 2.82 points per set on blocks. Dordt also has a 1.47 service ace per set average.
Dordt beat Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night 25-13, 22-25, 25-12, 25-19 with Brenna Krommendyk putting down 15 kills and Karsyn Winterfeld added 14 kills with 14 digs. Raszler and Beimers had 37 and 22 assists respectively and Connelly got to 33 digs.
As already noted this is the season opener for Jamestown.
Dordt and Jamestown played twice last season with Jamestown prevailing 3-1 in both contests. In the September 3 match at Jamestown the Defenders fell 25-23, 25-27, 25-23, 25-22. Bronner had 14 kills and Ally Krommendyk 12 while Megan Raszler put up 29 assists and Hannah Connelly got to 31 digs. Jamestown was topped by Jordan Thomas with 10 kills and Sydney Ellingson had 17 digs. Jamestown had a 7-5 service ace edge and Jamestown scored 16 points on blocks in the match.
On September 27 the Defenders were on the short end of a 25-21, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21 score. Isabell Wedel put down a team high 19 kills for Jamestown and Hannah Schiele had 20 digs. Jamestown recorded 11 blocks in the match. Karsyn Winterfeld led Dordt with 13 kills and Ally Krommendyk and :Lydia Smits each had 12 kills and Connelly got to 24 digs.
Dordt leads the series 7-5.
WHERE WE GO FROM HERE….
Dordt will travel to Jamestown on Tuesday, September 29 while Jamestown goes on to play Morningside on Saturday in Sioux City.
