Soodsma To Join Softball Program

(Wednesday, June 3; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ashayla Soodsma, a graduate of Boyden Hull High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender softball program.

Soodsma played softball for Boyden Hull Rock Valley and has played first base and pitcher.

"I chose Dordt because it has always been my dream to go to Dordt, receive a Christian education and play with the Defender softball team. Not only will it be a great place to advance my softball abilities, it will also be a great place for me to grow academically  and in my faith. I am so excited to be able to call myself a Defender," said Soodsma.

Ashayla is the daughter of Jack and Anita Soodsma of Doon, Iowa. She plans to study Civil Engineering at Dordt.

 Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
