Wagner To Join Defenders

(Tuesday, May 19; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Luke Wagner, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the track and field team.

Wagner has personal bests of a 49.9 split on a 4x400 team; 23.2 in the 200 meters and he has qualified for state three times and was a conference champion in both the sprint medley and 4x400.

"Coach Heynen and Coach Wolf were extremely outgoing and helpful in the recruitment process. I wanted to run under a coaching staff that would be focused on my athletic development as well as my academic and spiritual development. Dordt University appears to be the ideal place for the development of all three," said Wagner.

Luke is the son of Mark and Karen Wagner of Sanborn, Iowa. He plans to study Exercise Science and enter the pre-Physical Therapy program.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
