(Thursday, May 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA), has been announced and Dordt’s Rachel Evavold (Senior; Bloomington, Minnesota), has been voted to the first-team.
Evavold now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Those honor teams will be announced from June 8-11.
She has played in 115 career games with the Defenders and has a career .353 batting average with 131 career hits, 34 doubles, 10 homeruns and 73 runs batted in. Evavold also has 21 pitching wins with 151 strikeouts in 244 innings pitched.
Evavold is a two-time All-GPAC first-team selection in softball and earned All-GPAC second-team honor three times for the Defender basketball team.
Normally the award nomination takes account of the current year’s play but was limited to career accomplishments this year because of COVID-19.
Nominees must be at least sophomore status athletically and maintain a cumulative 3.35 grade point average.
