Franken Earns Honorable Mention Honors

(Friday, March 20; Sioux Center, Iowa) The NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-American teams have been announced and Garrett Franken (Junior; Atlantic, Iowa) has been included in the post season honors.
Franken was named honorable mention NAIA All-American after earning All-GPAC First-Team honors for the 2019-20 season.
“We are really proud of Garrett as he improved all year and came up big for us when we really needed him. His versatility made him special this year. He can score in a variety of ways and can guard all positions. Garrett has grown as a leader in this program and we look forward to next year being even better for him,” said Dordt men’s basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.
Franken averaged a team high 15.9 points per game with 7.5 rebounds per game in helping the Defenders to a 22-9 record. He converted 47.4 percent of his field goal attempts and also had 62 assists, 22 steals and 16 blocked shots this season.
Dordt concluded the season with a 22-9 record and finished tied for runner-up in the GPAC. The Defenders were no. 23 in the final NAIA Division II Basketball Coaches’ Poll.
