(Friday, March 20; Sioux Center, Iowa) The NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball All-American teams have been announced and for the second year in a row Erika Feenstra (Junior; Hull, Iowa) has been included in the post season honors.
Feenstra earned third-team honors this season while helping the Defenders to a program best 24-8 record and a second straight berth in the NAIA Division II National Basketball Championship.
“I am so happy for Erika receiving All American honors for the second consecutive year. Erika works extremely hard, year around, to develop her body and skills necessary to face the rigors of our GPAC schedule. Erika has continued to adapt her game to how teams are defending her and has excelled once again this season. Erika is a high character individual that wants to see success for the team and would be the first to direct attention to her teammates for the awesome season we had. This is rewarding because we see all the hard work Erika puts into her game and we see the All-American committee and coaches acknowledge this hard work. Congratulations Erika!” said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.
Feenstra averaged 17.6 points per game with 5.9 rebounds per contest while converting 60.4 percent of her field goal attempts. Feenstra was fourth in the nation in field goal percentage and was 22nd in the country in scoring per game.
Feenstra was a second-team All-American in 2019 and earlier this week was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American first-team after claiming second-team honors last year. She has 1,542 career points and ranks second all-time at Dordt and she’s currently 16th all-time in rebounds with 574.
Feenstra is one of seven players from GPAC schools to be named to one of the three All-American teams. Dordt ended the season no. 12 in the final NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Division II Top-25 poll released just before the start of the National Championship event.
