Forseth transitions to Holland Christian Schools

Forseth served as Dordt provost since 2013

Dr. Eric Forseth, provost at Dordt University, has been named Head of Schools at Holland Christian Schools in Holland, Michigan, and will be leaving Dordt University following the conclusion of the academic year. Forseth has served as Dordt’s provost since June of 2013.

“It has been a tremendous seven-year run at Dordt with Dr. Forseth serving as our provost and chief academic officer,” says Dr. Erik Hoekstra, president at Dordt. “I believe he is well-equipped to lead in this new challenge to which God has called him. During his time here, Dr. Forseth has provided solid leadership in a number of critical areas, and our curricular and co-curricular partnership to equip students as effective Kingdom citizens is as strong as it has been in our history.”

Dr. Forseth has appreciated his time at Dordt. “We have counted this tenure to be a tremendous privilege to work with such highly qualified and talented faculty and leadership team members. The staff have been impressive each and every day, from Dordt Dining Services to Student Services. It is evident they care deeply about serving well in Christian higher education,” shares Dr. Forseth.

Under Dr. Forseth’s leadership, Dordt has made significant advances in faculty and student research capabilities including the Kielstra Center for Research and Scholarship, had unprecedented graduate program growth in both enrollments and offerings, initiated undergraduate program expansions including nursing and Pro-Tech, and improved athletically through the initiation of the Defender Way.

“Dr. Forseth’s leadership for expanding and improving Dordt’s online capabilities, along with the collaborative efforts of each member on the Dordt team, are serving us well today as Dordt pivots to continue our educational mission during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Holland Christian is getting a committed Christian leader in Dr. Forseth, and we trust God will continue to bless Eric and his wife, Kim, as they take up their new roles at Holland Christian in the year ahead,” Hoekstra adds.

Dr. Forseth will continue to serve as Dordt University provost through the end of the academic year. Over the next few weeks, President Hoekstra will partner with the board of trustees and the campus community to determine options for continuing Dordt’s positive momentum and providing for Dordt’s future academic leadership needs.

Dr. Forseth looks forward to leading Holland Christian Schools. “We are excited to turn the page and start a new chapter of leadership at such a high-quality organization like Holland Christian Schools. Our commitment remains steady to fulfilling a calling to a Reformed perspective on Christian education.”

As an institution of higher education committed to the Reformed Christian perspective, Dordt University equips students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community to work toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of contemporary life.
