Dryden Signs On With Defender Soccer

(Friday, November 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) Mitchell Dryden, a senior at La Crescent-Hokah High School (Minnesota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt University and join the Defender soccer program.

"We’re excited to add Mitch to our 2020 class. His height and athleticism make him a versatile shot-stopper. Mitch is a great fit for the culture that we are continuing to build. His work ethic and desire to grow in his faith are traits that will contribute to our goals of the soccer program moving forward," said Dordt men's soccer coach Ryan Gresse.

Dryden has played goal keeper through his career.  In 17 games as a high school senior he faced 121 shots and had 11 saves and posted 12 shutouts with a 0.63 goals allowed average.  In 17 games as a junior he posted ten shutouts with 91 saves out of 98 shots faced and his goals against average was 0.41. He was a part of three straight conference championship teams and was an all-state selection this season.  Dryden claimed all-conference honors as a junior and senior. He's also been a two-time academic all-state selection while competing in track and field.

"I am committing to Dordt for many reasons. First, Dordt has a family like setting that I want in a school.  Secondly, the professors gave me a great impression and I’m excited to learn from them.  Finally, Dordt has a great soccer program--they have a brotherhood that I find very important in a team," said Dryden.

Mitchell is the son of Keith Dryden and Tracy Dryden of La Crescent, Minnesota.  He plans to study Biomedical Engineering.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
