(Tuesday, November 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced its Players-of-the-Week for football games played November 9 and David Kacmarynski (Junior; Pella, Iowa) earned the honor for his defensive play in a 43-7 win over Briar Cliff. Kacmarynski was eligible for the honor after earning the honor from the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Kacmarynski had three solo and two assisted tackles with two quarterback sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception return for a touchdown and three passes broken up. Kacmarynski became the all-time sacks leader at Dordt and his tackles for loss lifted his season total to 18.5 which ranks eighth in the NAIA.
“David’s commitment to personal skill development is second to none. He sets the standard on our team for preparation and focus. On top of that, David brings others with him in his industry standard habits. As a Dordt career record holder, it will be fun to see how high he can set the bar as he comes back for his senior year,” said Dordt football coach Joel Penner.
Kacmarynski has 33 solo tackles this season with seven sacks and two interceptions and four fumble recoveries. He has 15 career sacks and passed Jonathon Gardner’s mark of 13.5 on Saturday.
The Defenders are 7-3 this season and will host Midland to conclude the season on November 16.
