Nielson Joining Defender Basketball

(Wednesday, October 23; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Macey Nielson,  a senior at Roosevelt High School (South Dakota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

Nielson averaged 8.1 points per game as a junior with 2.8 rebounds and one assist per game.  She earned all-conference honorable mention honors last season and earned scholar-athlete honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

“We are pleased Macey has chosen Dordt University!  She embodies the Defender Way and we look forward to Macey’s contributions in our campus community and on the court," said Dordt coach Bill Harmsen.

Macey is the daughter of Jamie and Cathy Nielson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She plans to enter the pre-Occupational Therapy program or will major in Biology.

"I chose to commit to Dordt University because it is a place where I know I will grow in my relationship with Christ, in the classroom and on the court while having immense amounts of fun as well. The community has already been welcoming and helpful in this process and I am so excited to join the Dordt family," said Nielson.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
