Women's Cross Country 21st In National Ranking

(Friday, October 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) The latest edition of the 2019 NAIA Women’s Cross Country Coaches’ Top 25 Poll was released on Thursday, October 17 and the Dordt Defender women are 21st  in this week’s poll.

The Defenders took 198 points in the voting done by 21 coaches representing each of the conferences in the NAIA.   Dordt was 17 points in front of Columbia and trailed Shawnee State by 42 in the balloting.

Dordt won the Dordt Holiday Inn Express Invite on Saturday, October 12 last weekend in a race contested by eight teams. Dordt won the meet with 17 points and Northwestern was second with 52.   Concordia is the only other GPAC team in the poll and is at 19.  SCAD Atlanta took the top spot from Madonna (Michigan) as the teams flipped spots and College of Idaho took two first place votes for third.

“Coming off of a great win this past week at our home meet, it is great to see the women maintain a position in the top-25.  We look forward to the next two meets and performing at a high level as we finish out the year,” said coach Nate Wolf.

Dordt will run next in the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede on October 26 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. That meet will be the final race for Dordt prior to the GPAC Championship on November 9.

The next NAIA poll will be released October 17.
