(Wednesday, October 16; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced the Cross Country Runners of the Week for meets held October 6-12. Dordt’s Olivia Couch claims the honor for the Defenders.
Couch, a senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, ran second at the Dordt Holiday Inn Express Invite in Sioux Center, Iowa on Saturday, October 12. She ran a 18:44 to post the best NAIA time in the meet and bettered her mark from four weeks ago on the same course by 50 seconds. 102 runners ran the race as Dordt won the team title with 17.
“Olivia has been running at a high level this year. She is in the midst of her strongest training and racing of her career at Dordt University. We are excited to see how that translates for her over the final stretch of the season,” said Dordt cross country coach Nate Wolf.
The Defenders are off this week and will resume the 2019 season on Saturday, October 26 at the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
