(Friday, October 4; Sioux Center, Iowa) The latest edition of the 2019 NAIA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Top 25 Poll was released on Thursday, October 3 and the Dordt Defender men hold steady at no. 8 for the third poll in a row.
The Defenders took 456 points in the voting done by 21 coaches representing each of the conferences in the NAIA. Dordt was 21 points in front of Lewis Clark State and 15 behind Olivet Nazarene in the voting.
Dordt used its depth to win the Dean White Invite in Crete, Nebraska last weekend in a race contested by eight teams. Dordt totaled 37 points and Doane as the runner up with 50. The Defenders top-seven runners were separated by just 27 seconds and the first five were within 12 seconds.
“We are excited to hold our position in the rankings. We have had a good start to our season and are excited for the next six weeks as we head to the conference championship and national qualifying meet,” said coach Nate Wolf.
Dordt will run next in a meet it hosts on Saturday, October 12 before going to the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampeded on October 26 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. That meet will be the final race for Dordt prior to the GPAC Championship on November 9.
The next NAIA poll will be released October 17.
