(Wednesday, September 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced the Cross Country Runners of the Week for meets held September 9-15. Dordt’s Olivia Couch claims the honor for the Defenders.
Couch, a senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, won the Herb Blakely at Dordt University meet held on Saturday, September 14 in Sioux Center, Iowa. She ran a 19:34 to beat 63 other runners and helped the Defenders to a team title by 65 points. This was Couch’s first individual cross country title in her college career.
“Olivia ran a great race, winning her first college cross country race and leading the team this past weekend. She has put in some of her most focused training this summer and we are excited to see how her year unfolds,” said Dordt cross country coach Nate Wolf.
The Defenders are off this week and will resume the 2019 season on Saturday, September 28 at the Dean White Invite hosted by Doane University in Crete, Nebraska.
