Football Gets Commitment From Olivera

(Tuesday, June 4; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ryan Olivera, a recent graduate of Sutter Union High School (California), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.

Olivera averaged six tackles per game this season and totaled 16 tackles for loss.  He was twice selected all-league and was a second-team all-section pick. He was part of two section champions and three league champions during the course of his career.  Olivera is listed 5-11, 180 pounds and has played safety, linebacker, tight end, long snapper and punt returner during his career.

Ryan is the son of Daryl and Lisa Olivera of Meridian, California.  He plans to study Plant Science at Dordt.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
