Cano Added To Defender Soccer

(Thursday, May 23; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Alexis Cano,  a senior at Bakersfield Christian High School (California), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.

Cano was a first-team all-league South Sequoia League selection in 2016-17 and also earned all-area honorable mention that season.  She was a first-team all-league pick again in 2017-18 while playing midfielder and defense.  Cano also competed for the South Valley Thunder.

Alexis is the daughter of Mike and Amy Zittel of Bakersfield, California. She plans to study Agribusiness and also plans to enter the Pre-Law program.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
