Schnabel To Run For Defenders

(Thursday, May 2; Sioux Center, Iowa) Mia Schnabel, a senior at Sioux Falls Christian High School (South Dakota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.
Schnabel has run the 800 and 1600 during track and field and runs for the Sioux Falls Christian cross country team. She ran a personal best of 20:29 in cross country and qualified four times for the South Dakota State Meet and finished 35th there in 2018. Her personal bests are 5:44 in the 1600, 2:30 in the 800 and 64.3 in the 400 meters. Schnabel was an academic all-state pick in cross country and track and field.
"Mia is a wonderful addition to our women’s distance program. She has been an integral part of a successful girls program at Sioux Falls Christian under Coach Luke VanderLeest. She is competitive, has a great work ethic, and possesses the ability to see great success as she moves forward into her college running. She will be a fantastic teammate and will have a positive impact on our team and across the Dordt community as a whole," said Dordt cross country and assistant track and field coach Nate Wolf.
Mia plans to study Nursing at Dordt.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
