Rupprecht To Join Running Programs

(Friday, March 29; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Josh Rupprecht, a graduate of Valley Christian High School (California), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

Rupprecht was the league champion and mvp as a senior and finished eight in the California D5 State Meet as both a junior and senior.  He placed third in the 1600 meters and fourth in the 3200 in the CIF D4 Finals and was his league's distance mvp as a senior.

Rupprecht has personal bests of 1:59 in the 800, 4:21 in the 1600, 9:39 in the 3200 and 15:59 on a 5,000 meter cross country course.  He helped his high school cross country team to four straight league championships, CIF Southern Section runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2017 and a CIF State runner-up finish in 2016 and a fifth place finish in 2017.

"I am excited to have Josh join our distance program at Dordt.  He is an incredible student and a very talented runner.  He was part of a very strong team at Valley Christian and will rejoin his teammate Payton Kooi as part of our cross country and track squads.  The experience of training with a strong team coupled with his experience of running fast times in big meets will provide a great opportunity for him to contribute to our team right away.  One of the things that excites me the most about Josh is his desire and excitement to attend Dordt and to be part of the greater campus community.  I look forward to working with him over the next four years and seeing his impact on our team and campus," said Dordt cross country coach Nate Wolf.

Josh is the son of Daniel and Peggy Rupprecht  of Cerritos, California. He plans to study Engineering at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
