Dordt College’s new Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is now accepting applications for the fall 2019 semester. The MPA program was approved by the Higher Learning Commission in early March.
The MPA will provide students with invaluable experience in program evaluation, public finance, and organizational theory that will be beneficial in a variety of fields including social work, criminal justice, city management, and non-profit work. Dordt offers three emphases: a General emphasis, Police Administration emphasis, and Non-profit Administration emphasis. It is a 36-credit, online degree that consists of six-week courses which can be completed in as little as two years.
“Our goal is to have each course in our program provide concrete results to students and their employers, with projects and assignments that develop students personally or provide direct benefit to the student’s employer,” says Donald Roth, director of the program.
Drawing on the depth of the teachings of Abraham Kuyper that Dordt was founded on, Dordt’s MPA program is not only informed by a deep Christian worldview but is also rooted in a vision of Christian engagement that emphasizes the value of societal institutions.
“The MPA program has exciting potential for kingdom service and impact, and it’s wonderful to be able to begin,” says Associate Provost Dr. Leah Zuidema.
